I certainly did not like brown rice when I first tried it over 30 years ago. Time has

turned that around; tastes can be changed. Store brown rice in fridge or freezer....

​

[NOTE: we have had cooked white rice and raisins for breakfast also. It isn't quite

as filling but white rice is a good long-term storage item]

Brown Rice N' Raisins

Eat this healthy breakfast and reap many benefits....

​

1 c. long grain brown rice

2 and 1/3 c. water

1/4 tsp. sea salt

1 tsp. oil or butter

1/2 c. raisins

Put rice, water, salt, and butter in a saucepan or small pot. Cover, bring to a full boil. Turn heat to low, simmer covered for 35 minutes. Turn off heat. Add raisins just on top of hot rice, do not stir in. Cover, let sit 10 minutes (this finishes rice and plumps raisins).  Serve with cinnamon sugar and milk (reconstituted dry milk works fine).  4 servings.
