Janet's Alphabet Soup
About 20 cents per serving. This version of alphabet soup makes 16 cups, a large pot full.
1 can green beans, cut beans into smaller pieces, undrained
1 can corn, undrained
1 can crushed tomatoes (15 oz.)
1 can petite diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.)
1 can white beans or baby lima beans, undrained (or 2 cups undrained cooked beans)

1 package (7 oz.) alphabet pasta (we found 'El Guapo' brand at Walmart)
1 and 1/2 T. beef base or 1 T. beef bouillon powder or 1 T. chicken bouillon powder
1/4 c. dried chopped onions
1/3 c. dried carrots
1/3 c. freeze dried peas
3/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. granulated garlic
1/2 tsp. pepper

5 to 6 cups water

Combine all in large pot except alphabet pasta, bring to a full boil. Add alphabet pasta, bring back
to boiling, cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, until pasta is tender. Though the alphabet pasta is small, it takes a surprisingly long time to cook.

Note: do not cook on higher than medium heat in order for pasta to cook properly/tender.
