Easy Simple Dough

You have now hit the bonanza of easy and tasty!!!!!  The texture when baked is more like a yeast dough than a biscuit dough. And this dough can be frozen in flat rounds (thaw in fridge), simple!!

Make your own yogurt, or freeze some to extend storage life.

What can I make with it?

Breadsticks

Pizza Crust

Fast Cinnamon Rolls

Naan Flatbread

Pretzel Bites

Focaccia

Calzones

Cheese Buns or Rolls

Hamburger or Hotdog Buns

Scones

Crescent Rolls

Fast Dinner Rolls

Self-Rising Flour

I like making my own because I can add part whole wheat flour + it is less expensive to make own.  IF want all-whole-wheat self rising flour, increase baking powder by 2 teaspoons to help 'lift' what-ever you'll be making, but I suggest you use no more than half whole wheat flour.

3 c. flour (all purpose or unbleached)

1 c. whole wheat flour

5 tsp. baking powder

1 and 1/2 tsp. salt or sea salt

Thoroughly mix with a whisk. Put in container with tight seal. If you added whole wheat flour, keep this in the fridge for up to 6 months. Otherwise, if all white flour was used, can be kept in cupboard for about the same timeline.

NOTE: if wanting to be exact, then after measuring flour into bowl, take out 2 T. + 2 tsp. of flour before adding the baking powder and salt.

If want only one cup of self-rising flour: 1 c. flour + 1 and 1/4 tsp. baking powder + 3/8 tsp. salt

Now make the Easy Simple Dough.....this cannot be exact measurements because moisture content of both ingredients will vary.  But try starting out with equal amounts of both ingredients.

Self-Rising Flour

Plain yogurt or greek yogurt

Mix together to form a soft-smooth-but-not-sticky dough. That's it.  Now just choose a recipe, and follow the recipe's baking instructions. (I just use this dough and my recipes I already have: such as

regular pizza dough recipe baking instructions).
