Sweet Wheat Bread
This dessert bread could also be for breakfast, with a cup of herb tea....

We also like this bread with baked beans....

 

 

1 and 1/3 c. buttermilk or soured reconstituted milk

2/3 c. brown sugar

1/4 tsp. sea salt

3/4 tsp. baking soda

2 c. whole wheat flour
 


Preheat oven to 325°.  Grease a 9x5 loaf pan.

Mix dry ingredients. Stir in buttermilk. Scrape into greased pan. Bake 65 to 75 minutes, until bread pulls slightly away from pan. Toothpick test center top. Remove from oven, let cool 5 minutes. Loosen edges with spatula. Turn out to cool.

NOTE: can add chopped walnuts and/or raisins (or craisins, or currants) to batter before baking.

​
